EASTERN CAPE LIQUOR BOARD TO HOST COMMUNITY IMBIZO ON RESPONSIBLE ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION AND LIQUOR TRADING AT RHODE VILLAGE IN MT. AYLIFF
Eastern Cape Liquor Board will host an Imbizo at Mt Ayliff Rhode Village with a view to educate community, particularly young people about dangers of excessive consumption of alcohol and inconsiderate trading, on the 02 November 2018. The theme of the event is “taking action against alcohol abuse and irresponsible trading”.
The area of Rhode has experience growing cases of alcohol abuse and reckless trading in alcohol. The Eastern Cape Liquor Board has increasingly received reports about the problems that members of the community experience because of alcohol abuse in the area, including cases of murder that are attributed to the abuse of alcohol. As we prepare for the Festive Season the Board has seen it fit to host the programme in this area in order to raise awareness and educate community about their role in the regulation of liquor trading in their area.
With various stakeholders have been invited to the programme, which will include Social Development, DTI, Transport, SASSA, Liquor Traders and Council of Churches. It is our hope that the attendance by these stakeholders will add on value in sharing much needed information to try curb all the social ills affecting the community of Rhode negatively.
