Eastern Cape Liquor Board to conduct an underage drinking Open Dialogue in Queenstown

Eastern Cape Liquor Board (ECLB) will conduct an underage drinking Open Dialogue among four high schools from Queenstown district.

It has come to the attention of the ECLB that many of our schools are experiencing a rising rate of alcohol consumption among learners, and it has increasingly become necessary to undertake intervention initiatives that seek to educate them about the scourge of underage drinking.

As part of this programme, a total of four high schools have been identified for the intervention, which is largely intended to be more interactive thus allowing learners to engage in conversations on how the situation in our schools can be improved. We will visit a total of nine school prior the event on the 16 October to conduct underage drinking awareness as a build-up campaign.

Media is, therefore, cordially invited to be part of the campaign to fight alcohol abuse in schools and assist to spread the message of underage drinking “Taking action against underage drinking”.

Details of the event are as follows:

Date: 16 October 2019
Venue: Zone 1 Community Hall- Ezibeleni
