EASTERN CAPE LIQUOR BOARD LAUNCHES FESTIVE SEASON IN MTHATHA & LIBODE
In its efforts to mitigate road fatalities associated with excessive consumption of alcohol, the Eastern Cape Liquor Board will launch the Festive Season Road Safety Campaign in Mthatha together with OR Tambo Department of Transport, SAPS and other relevant stakeholders.
The purpose of the launch is to make people aware about the dangers of drunken driving.
Both the R61 and the N2 are reportedly the most dangerous roads in the Eastern Cape, and most road fatalities are attributed to driving under the influence of alcohol. As part of the main launch of the Festive Season, Eastern Cape Liquor Board in collaboration with the Department of Transport Road Safety, the KSD Municipality and other stakeholders will conduct a massive road block near the Dan’s Lodge, on 3 December 2018 at 10h00 to 12h00. This will be an opportunity to interact with road users and sensitise them on the dangers of drunk driving.
The road bock will also precede a myriad of other activations that will include visit to taxi ranks, liquor outlets and garages in and around King Sabatha Dalindyebo Local Municipality on the 4th of December. Our resolve is to significantly reduce alcohol consumption among road users, thus alleviate fatalities in our Province.
Media is, therefore, invited to join the Eastern Cape Liquor Board on the 3rd of December near Dan’s Place from 10 am to 12 noon.
