EASTERN CAPE LIQUOR BOARD IN PARTNERSHIP WITH HEINEKEN TO HOST ALCOHOL ABUSE AWARENESS CAMPAIGN IN JANSENVILLE
In its efforts to reduce alcohol abuse and irresponsible trading, Eastern Cape Liquor Board in partnership with Heineken will host a sports tournament against alcohol abuse in Jansenville.
As a build-up to the sports tournament, the Board will visit clinics, farms and liquor outlets to educate people about the perils of alcohol abuse and drinking while pregnant. Jansenville is an area that is adversely affected by high levels of alcohol abuse, particularly among young people. The area is also experiencing a growing phenomenon of home brewed concoctions, which is extremely harmful to people who consume it.
Generally, alcohol abuse continues to be a problem in our communities and it is alleged that it remains a problem particularly to young people. Sport is one of the mechanisms that ECLB is using to keep young people busy than spending their valuable time in taverns.
Various stakeholders such as Correctional services, SAPS and Social development will also give messages of support. Sporting codes will include Soccer, Rugby and Netball.
You are, therefore, cordially invited to join ECLB in its alcohol abuse awareness campaign.
The details of the event are as follows:
Time: 10:00 – 16:00
Date: 13 October 2018
Venue: Pumlani sports ground, Jansenville
