EASTERN CAPE LIQUOR BOARD CONTINUES TO FIGHT ALCOHOL ABUSE IN SCHOOLS
In its efforts to reduce alcohol abuse among young people, Eastern Cape Liquor Board (ECLB) will be hosting edu drama and debate in Ngcobo educational district on the 30 August 2017. Only young girls will be part of the competition as we are in the final days of women’s month.
Alcohol abuse among young pupils continues to cause havoc in schools, and high crime statistics are attributed to alcohol/substance abuse in the area. Also this platform will be used to make young girls aware about crimes affecting women such as rape, forced marriages and diseases associated with alcohol abuse.
Eastern Cape Liquor Board will be conducting an edu drama and debate competition amongst 15 high schools around Ngcobo education district.
In a bid to fight alcohol abuse in schools we have also invited various government department to make this awareness a success in spreading information to young girls. This is the same area that has seen young being victims of forced marriages. Social Development, Justice, SAPS, Correctional Services etc will be part of the awareness campaign.
