EASTERN CAPE LIQUOR BOARD TO HOST A YOUTH DIALOGUE IN MACLEAR
In commemorating the Youth Month, Eastern Cape Liquor Board will host Youth Dialogue in a bid to curb alcohol abuse among the youth in Maclear and surrounding areas.
The area is inflicted with high rate of alcohol abuse, which is attributed, among others, to exceedingly huge rate of unemployment with less economic activity. By and large, the community depends on a social grants for survival, and regrettably high number of young people is unemployed. As a result, young people are vulnerable to various social ills including the abuse of alcohol in the area.
Eastern Cape Liquor Board will partner with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and various strategic stakeholders in order to engage young people on how to transform the current socio-economic conditions. Youth organisation in all forms will be part of the event and Traditional Authority.
The session will also seek to address the challenge of irresponsible trading liquor trading by some liquor outlets in the area, which is also a major concern to the Board.
Various stakeholders are expected to attend including the Elundini Mayor and his Council.
You are therefore cordially invited to join ECLB in this momentous occasion, which is aimed at mobilising young people to refrain alcohol abuse, instead tap into available economic opportunities within the Municipality.
