Eastern Cape Liquor Board in partnership with SAB and FARR will commemorate International Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder Awareness Day on 09 September 2015
The Chief Executive Officer of the Eastern Cape Liquor Board, Mr. KC Maneli, together with the Foundation for Alcohol Related Research (FARR) and the South African Breweries (SAB), invite you to the commemoration of the International Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder (FASD) Awareness Day, which will be accompanied by the launch of FASD Prevention Programme for mothers-to-be in the Bethelsdorp community.
Every year on September 9th, International FASD Awareness Day is observed. People all around the world gather for events to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking during pregnancy and the plight of individuals and families who struggle with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). This day was chosen so that on the ninth day of the ninth month of the year, the world will remember that during the nine months of pregnancy a woman should abstain from alcohol.
The Deputy Minister of the National Department of Social Development, Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu together with MECs of Social Development, Education, Health and Economic Development will grace the occasion.
